Welcome to Anadol Rugs Home Page

Created in 1984 by Suat Izmirli, a leader in the revolutionary revival of natural dyes, Anadol Rug has been heralded as a true visionary in the recreation of the modern rug movement. Inspired with the historic DOBAG ( Natural Dye Research and Development Project ) of the 1970’s, Anadol has quietly provided numerous rug dealers around the world with some of the most admired weavings of the last quarter century.

“Today, Anadol make among the best rugs in Turkey” says Emmett Eiland, Author of “Oriental Rugs Today” and numerous other books, and renown authority on Oriental carpets.

Philosophy:

“When I was younger, I strove to learn all I could about the heritage of the Turkish rug industry. When the DOBAG project was first introduced by Dr.Harald Bohmer in 1974 I was thrilled that someone could be so passionate about such an important aspect of the culture of my home.

Today, almost four decades later, my passion is as strong as ever. The carpets that Anadol takes great pride in constructing have a natural affinity with today’s ‘green initiative’ as our rugs incorporate organic dyes and are woven with wool purchased from native herdsmen and hand-spun and woven by local villagers who tend to and care for the important herds, as the sheep and goats of our extended families are an integral part of many of their lives. Our weavers are also invaluable members of our family. We are pleased to work in complete harmony with these artists, many of whom employ their skills in a craft learned from generations before.”
